Abstract: | Discusses how popular music, commercial media and consumption are interrelated in Sakha Republic. Explores social relations in pop and rock music industry and shows how these relations have become formalised over time. Argues that in different branches of music scene, cultural significance of music differs and is reflected in its production, marketing and consumption. Based on data collected initially in 2000 and 2001, and subsequently in 2006 and 2008. |
