Record #187683:

Impact of climate change on lichen diversity of Ny Ålesund, Arctic, and Larsemann Hills, Antarctic / S.M. Singh, R. Ravindra.

Title: Impact of climate change on lichen diversity of Ny Ålesund, Arctic, and Larsemann Hills, Antarctic / S.M. Singh, R. Ravindra.
Author(s): Singh, S. M.
Ravindra, R.
Date: 2008.
Publisher: [Tokyo]: ISAR-1
In: First International Symposium on Arctic Research (ISAR-1) : drastic change under global warming. (2008.),
Abstract: Reports results of lichenological investigation in region of Ny Ålesund. Finds lichen flora of Ny Ålesund to comprise fruticose lichen (80%), crustose lichen (12%) and foliose lichen (8%). Cladonia and Caloplaca are most dominant lichen, followed by Rhizocarpon, Stereocaulon and Umbilicaria. Compares Ny Ålesund lichen flora with that of Larsemann Hills, Antarctica, and finds former area has richer lichen diversity. Also finds regions show great climatic differences which influence compositions of biota. Discusses possible influence of climate change on lichen.
Notes:
