| Abstract: | Describes development of four-dimensional variational data assimilation technique to study climatological circulation over Bering Sea. Utilises following data sets: 81,911 temperature/salinity profiles collected in Chukchi/Bering seas; 500 satellite-tracked drifter trajectories from FOCI and 84 from GDP; 57 monthly mean velocity data; estimates of mean transport through Bering Sea; and NCEP/NCAR wind stress and surface heat/salt fluxes climatology. |
