Northward penetration of Antarctic Intermediate Water off northwest Africa / F. Machín, J.L. Pelegrí.
Title: | Northward penetration of Antarctic Intermediate Water off northwest Africa / F. Machín, J.L. Pelegrí. |
Author(s): | Machín, F. Pelegrí, J. L. |
Date: | 2009. |
In: | Journal of Physical Oceanography. (2009.), Vol. 39(3) (2009) |
Abstract: | Uses historical and climatological datasets to investigate seasonal northward propagation of Antarctic Intermediate Waters (AAIW) along eastern margin of North Atlantic subtropical gyre. Suggests that meridional spreading results from seasonal evolution of thickness of AAIW layer in eastern boundary, as stretching of this layer progresses north from tropical to subtropical waters. |
Notes: | Journal of Physical Oceanography. Vol. 39(3) :512-535 (2009). |
