Record #187507:

Positive feedback between polar jet and polar mode of the baroclinic instability / Masaki Ikeda, Hiroshi L. Tanaka.

Title: Positive feedback between polar jet and polar mode of the baroclinic instability / Masaki Ikeda, Hiroshi L. Tanaka.
Author(s): Ikeda, Masaki.
Tanaka, Hiroshi L.
Date: 2008.
Publisher: [Tokyo]: ISAR-1
In: First International Symposium on Arctic Research (ISAR-1) : drastic change under global warming. (2008.),
Abstract: Investigates positive feedback between polar jet and polar mode of baroclinic instability by focusing on north-south transport of eddy momentum and rotational direction of wave breaking. Finds that, when anticyclonic wave breaking occurs, eddy momentum is transported towards high latitudes; also, when cyclonic wave breaking occurs, eddy momentum is transported towards low latitudes. At region where eddy momentum converges, westerly flow is accelerated.
