Abstract: Reports results of winter investigation of optical properties of sea ice using artificial lamp, conducted in Amundsen Bay of Arctic Ocean from November 2007-January 2008. Presents measurements of radiation field emitted from lamp and discusses optimised experiment project. Demonstrates that minimum size of lamp is determined by both field of view (FOV) of optical instrument and measuring distance from lamp. Following analysis of radiation intensity distribution, proposes and discusses three methods to control experiment: consistency of lamp with FOV of instrument, leeward calibration in situ, and measurement of effective scope of optical field.
