The development of specific locations into tourist attractions: cases from northern Europe / Tanja Löytynoja.

Title: The development of specific locations into tourist attractions: cases from northern Europe / Tanja Löytynoja.
Author(s): Löytynoja, Tanja.
Date: 2008.
In: Fennia. (2008.), Vol. 186(1) (2008)
Abstract: Considers transformation of specific locations into tourist attractions, using four case studies (including North Cape, Norway, and Arctic Circle). Applies model of "sight sacralization" to each case study to test applicability in empirical context. Notes that specific locations develop into attractions in series of stages, but that model does not fully explain their transformation or specific character.
