| Abstract: | Shows for first time that numerous phototrophic and heterotrophic flagellates inhabit White Sea ice together with diatoms and non-flagellates. Compares numbers and biomass of these small algae with those observed in summer. Describes infiltration and melted pond sea-ice algae assemblages in White Sea. Notes that composition of sea-ice algae differs markedly from algae forming spring phytoplankton bloom. |
