Polynyas and tidal currents in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago / Charles G. Hannah, Frédéric Dupont, Michael Dunphy.
Title: | Polynyas and tidal currents in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago / Charles G. Hannah, Frédéric Dupont, Michael Dunphy. |
Author(s): | Hannah, Charles G. Dupont, Frédéric. Dunphy, Michael. |
Date: | 2009. |
In: | Arctic. (2009.), Vol. 62(1) (2009) |
Abstract: | Reports use of tidal model of Canadian Arctic Archipelago to map strength of tidal currents, tidal mixing and vertical excursion associated with currents that drive water upslope and downslope. "Hotspots" in these quantities correspond with location of many small polynyas in archipelago, supporting idea that tidal currents contribute greatly to dynamics of many recurring polynyas. |
Notes: | Arctic. Vol. 62(1) :83-95 (2009). |
