Record #187272:

Movement and aggregation of eastern Hudson Bay beluga whales (Delphinapterus leucas): a comparison of patterns found through satellite telemetry and Nunavik traditional ecological knowledge / A.E. Lewis, and 4 others.

Title: Movement and aggregation of eastern Hudson Bay beluga whales (Delphinapterus leucas): a comparison of patterns found through satellite telemetry and Nunavik traditional ecological knowledge / A.E. Lewis, and 4 others.
Author(s): Lewis, A. E.
Date: 2009.
In: Arctic. (2009.), Vol. 62(1) (2009)
Abstract: Presents comparison of information on movements and aggregation of beluga whales (Delphinapterus leucas) obtained from 3253 traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) interview records and satellite telemetry records of 30 whales tagged using geographic information system (GIS) approaches that allowed common formatting of data sets. Estuarine centres of aggregation in summer were evident in both data sets. Intensive use of offshore areas seen in telemetry data was not evident in TEK data.
