| Abstract: | Reports use of BCM V2.0 coupled ocean-atmosphere model to investigate how changes in summer storminess would affect heat and moisture transport at high latitudes. Notes model's prediction that Arctic Ocean and Arctic coast of Russia will harbour more and more intense storms. Finds that centennial-scale increases in Arctic cyclones in BCM scenario runs are smaller by factor of ten than 6% trend per decade, as calculated using NCEP data over last 50 years, thus indicating deficiences and biases in models when considering Arctic trends. |
