Title: A reindeer herder's perspective on caribou, weather and socio-economic change on the Seward Peninsula, Alaska / Kumi Rattenbury, and 3 others.
Author(s): Rattenbury, Kumi.
Date: 2009.
In: Polar Research. (2009.), Vol. 28(1) (2009)
Abstract: Describes effect of recent environmental and socio-economic developments on reindeer herding and perceptions of weather on Seward Peninsula. Notes that reindeer industry has shrunk considerably since 1990s; also that socio-economic and environmental repercussions make continuation of herding tenuous, and erode ability of herders to cope with weather variability.
