Record #187118:

Holistic ice sheet modeling: a first-order approach / Terence J. Hughes.

Title: Holistic ice sheet modeling: a first-order approach / Terence J. Hughes.
Author(s): Hughes, Terence J.
Date: 2009.
Publisher: [Orono, Maine]: University of Maine
Abstract: Examines questions of whether ice sheets are fundamentally stable or unstable, and, if unstable, extent to which instability controls instabilities in global climate and sea level. Presents first-order holistic model, with aim of capturing full range of ice-sheet behaviour (i.e. behaviour of both stable interior and unstable periphery). Model encompasses fundamental behaviour of slow interior sheet flow, fast peripheral stream flow, and buttressing capability of shelf flow.
