Abstract: Edited letters of Leonard Budgell, employee of Hudson's Bay company 1935-82 who ran trading posts in isolated communities on Labrador coast and across Arctic, and who served on Company's ship Nascopie. Letters chronicle changes in traditional way of life, showing how Northern lifestyles were influenced by advent of rifles, motorboats, radios, electric generators, and different foods and medicines.
