Studies observed texture, composition, cryostructure, hydro-physical properties, temperature, moisture (ice) content of sediments, dynamics and thickness of active layer, spatiotemporal scales of response and degradation of permafrost, cryogenic processes and features and cryoecological state. Discusses dynamics of seasonal thaw depth, partial melting and surface subsidence, and anomalously rapid, abrupt development of cryogenic processes and disruption of soil stability in ice-complex areas. Concludes observed climate warming trend and degradation of near-surface permafrost will probably cause irreversible change, disrupting stability of natural and man-affected geosystems at regional scale.
