Abstract: Develops 2-d simulation model for avalanche dynamics by considering 3-d topography. Bases development on 1-d model of stream avalanches, in which snow amount and avalanche shape vary with flow according to snow intake at front and snow breakaway towards tail. Shows how new model can use digital maps and analyze flow route and lateral spread of avalanches.
