Abstract: Describes implementation in GIS of snow cover model based only on precipitation, temperature and radiation, reporting snow cover simulations for Austria for each day of winter 2003/04 and providing results as daily grid data sets with 50-meter resolution. Describes simplifications necessary because snow pack consistency and density are unknown, allowing only snow water equivalent to be determined. Evaluates model results.
