Abstract: Examines peat and net carbon accumulation rates in two sub-Arctic peat plateaus through geochemical analysis and mass spectrometry (AMS) radiocarbon dating. Finds that long-term peat and net carbon accumulation rates reflect very slow peat accumulation and net carbon accumulation in top rootlet layers; also (from extensive AMS radiocarbon dating) that accumulation rates are variable depending on peat plateau stage.
