Глиссирующий механизм формирования ледово-водокаменного селя при срыве ледника Колка в 2002 году

Title: Глиссирующий механизм формирования ледово-водокаменного селя при срыве ледника Колка в 2002 году
Title, transliterated: Glissirui︠u︡shchiĭ mekhanizm formirovanii︠a︡ ledovo-vodokamennogo seli︠a︡ pri sryve lednika Kolka v 2002 godu / V.L. Poznanin, S.G. Gevorki︠a︡n.
Translated title: Gliding mechanism of the formation of ice-water-rock mudflow, Kolka glacier, 2002.
Author(s): Poznanin, V. L.

Date: 2008.
Language: Russian.
In: Kriosfera Zemli. (2008.), Vol. 12(4) (2008)
Abstract: Examines Genaldon catastrophe, in which gliding acceleration and dynamic destruction transformed Kolka glacier body into ice-water-rock mudflow of around 2 million m³/s. Attributes failure to loss of cohesion between glacier and water-saturated porous layer under hydraulic impact, so that three interrelated bodies/flows occurred: 1) mudflow (up to 20 m/s) in front of accelerating glacier; 2) glacial body (3-35 m/s) gliding on surface of mudflow; 3) mudflow-type flow (50 m/s) thrown off to right by inertia from surface of glacier. Analyzes interaction of these during sliding impact of glacial body against valley bottom, identifying functionally steady aggregate of moving ice blocks, saturated with circulating water-soil masses and surrounded by viscous mud-gravel envelope.
