| Abstract: | Presents paraglacial study of Baronbreen catchment, Kongsfjorden. Analyzes diachronic photographs and sedimentological archives to examine evolution of landforms, sediment deposits, sediment fluxes and storage in proglacial area and to relate temporal scales and rhythms in geomorphology to climatic variability. Discusses in kinematics and sedimentological record of post-Little Ice Age deglaciation, and morphodynamic evolution of Baronbreen-Conwaybreen area during 20th century. Suggests that paraglacial sequence, known as morphogenic crisis, could be affected by internal small threshold events able to mobilize large quantities of sediment, making yield over time more irregular than large scale models suggest. |
