Abstract: Investigates impact of two amino acids (glutamic acid and arginine) and natural food extract on behavioural responses of two Arctic decapods - great spider crab (Hyas araneus) and hermit crab (Eupagurus pubescens) - from Grønfjorden (Spitsbergen). Finds decapods respond to natural food extract by maxilliped movements, chela probing, movements of first pairs of walking legs and locomotion; also glutamic acid and arginine are detected by both species, evoking strong behavioural reaction.
