Abstract: Historical chronology of all Antarctic regions lists voyages to far south and Antarctica in particular, with 4865 detailed entries for expeditions and related historical events. Record begins in 700 BC and includes those directly engaged in exploration and research; sealers and whalers exploiting resources; and accidental discoveries made by early merchants blown off course. Comprehensive introduction includes basic geographical information and statistics of region, with particular emphasis on comparative data and lesser known places; notes on legislation, territorial sovereignty and Antarctic Treaty System; natural resources; national Antarctic operations; winter scientific stations and bases; and statistical examination of whaling and sealing operations.
