Title: | Who cares about polar regions? Results from a survey of U.S. public opinion / Lawrence C. Hamilton. |
Author(s): | Hamilton, Lawrence C. |
Date: | 2008. |
In: | Arctic, Antarctic, and Alpine Research. (2008.), Vol. 40(4) (2008) |
Abstract: | Explores data from General Social Survey (GSS) which, in 2006, questioned representative sample of more than 1,800 US adults about knowledge and opinions concerning polar regions. Polar survey items were modelled on long-running GSS assessments of general science knowledge and opinions, recently summarised in US National Science Board's report Science and engineering indicators 2008. Polar survey results are intended as baseline for comparison when questions are repeated in 2010 survey, following 2007-08 International Polar Year. |
