Paleoecological evidence for transitions between contrasting landforms in a polygon-patterned High Arctic wetland / Christopher J. Ellis, Line Rochefort, Gilles Gauthier, Reinhard Pienitz.
Title: | Paleoecological evidence for transitions between contrasting landforms in a polygon-patterned High Arctic wetland / Christopher J. Ellis, Line Rochefort, Gilles Gauthier, Reinhard Pienitz. |
Author(s): | Ellis, Christopher J. Rochefort, Line. Gauthier, Gilles. Pienitz, Reinhard. |

In: | Arctic, Antarctic, and Alpine Research. (2008.), Vol. 40(4) (2008) |
Abstract: | Investigates long-term development of polygon-patterned permafrost in High Arctic wetland, using palaeoecological record of diatoms. Examines two landform processes: millennial-scale development of polygon-pond, and transition from low-centre to erosive high-centre polygons. Quantifies diatom assemblages from habitats associated with contrasting landforms in present-day landscape, and uses as analogue to reconstruct past transitions between polygon types. |
