| Abstract: | Reports determination of occurrence percentage and content of general aerobic heterotrophic bacteria (GAB), using MPN method on 182 sub-samples from 10 sediment cores taken from Canadian Basin and Chukchi Sea at two different culturing temperatures. Finds general occurrence percentage of GAB to be high, with highest content occurring at 20-22 cm layer in sediment. GAB contents fluctuate among state in sediments, but trend is identifiable: contents in middle or lower strata are higher than in upper stratum. Cultivation at 25° C could improve occurrence percentage and contents of GAB, suggesting that increase in temperature may change living circumstances and conditions. |
