Gender, subsistence and ethnoarchaeology / Robert Jarvenpa, Hetty Jo Brumbach.

Title: Gender, subsistence and ethnoarchaeology / Robert Jarvenpa, Hetty Jo Brumbach.
Author(s): Jarvenpa, Robert.
Brumbach, Hetty Jo.
Date: 2006.
Publisher: Lincoln, NB: University of Nebraska
In: Circumpolar lives and livelihood : a comparative ethnoarchaeology of gender and subsistence. (2006.),
Abstract: Describes development of ethnoarchaeological approach for analysing and modelling gender and subsistence in indigenous communities across Circumpolar North. Notes that research reveals women's and men's food acquisition and food processing activities to be more complex and flexible than commonly assumed; also that gender-constructed behaviours can be modelled as part of process distributing artefactual and faunal materials across landscape, generating archaeological remains, sites and settlement systems with distinctive female and male patterning.
