Abstract: Presents integrated biomagnetostratigraphic study of latest Early Triassic to upper parts of Middle Triassic at Milne Edwardsfjellet, central Spitsbergen. Finds thick (ca 110 m) and comparatively complete succession through latest Spathian into Middle Anisian, whereas Late Anisian to Ladinian is condensed into approx. 70 m, with latest Ladinian being absent; also succession provides Triassic magnetostratigraphy, carried by magnetite and magnetic sulphide, with mean magnetization directions demonstrating close affinity with Early Mesozoic apparent polar wander path of Baltica. Discontinuous ammonoid and conodont recovery levels provide clear constraints for magnetostratigraphic correlation with biomagnetostratigraphies determined from lower latitudes.
