Abstract: Examines complexity of climatic changes and ecosystem function, using annual measurements of more than 1,500 physical and biological parameters compiled by monitoring programme at Zackenberg over 10-year period. Demonstrates that High Arctic ecosystems are highly sensitive to climate changes and that, even within decadal time-frame, species and systems display marked and, in some cases, dramatic responses.
