| Abstract: | Studies exchange of surface waters and deep waters in two periods: 1958-83 and 1991-2001. Shows that riverine constituent of sea water alkalinity over entire White Sea throughout year has low value, close to alkalinity of water of Severnaya Dvina when in flood. Discusses possible explanations for this phenomenon. Analyses oxygen content of deep sea waters and finds that in 1958-83 deep waters were replenished on average every 2-3 years, whereas in 1991-2002 replenishment occurred less often, due possibly to warmer winters. |
