Abstract: Reports suspension of plan by Canadian federal government to restrict (by voluntary ban) polar bear (Ursus maritimus) exports from four management areas, following strong protests from Inuit and Inuvialuit representatives on federal-territorial Polar Bear Administrative Committee. Ban was intended to apply in Kane Basin, South Beaufort, Western Hudson Bay and Baffin Bay management areas.
