Arctic Bay man dies from eating infected walrus meat / Jane George.

Title: Arctic Bay man dies from eating infected walrus meat / Jane George.
Author(s): George, Jane.
Date: 2008.
In: Nunatsiaq News. (2008.), Vol. 36(43) (2008)
Abstract: Reports dangers to human health caused by trichinella parasite which has repeatedly infected walrus stocks in Nunavut and Nunavik since 1980s. Notes that Arctic species of trichinella is resistant to temperatures as low as -20°C., and that freezing or fermenting meat does not kill parasite unless meat has been cooked thoroughly.
