| Abstract: | Reports establishment of relationships between zooplankton community and various environmental factors (salinity, temperature, sampling depth and bottom depth) in European Arctic Marginal Ice Zone (MIZ) using multivariate statistics. Identifies three main zooplankton communities: Atlantic shallow community, Arctic shallow community, and deep water community. Pools all species belonging to Atlantic shallow community and Arctic shallow community and calculates relative abundances in total zooplankton with respect to particular layer (surface, mid and deep strata), regions (Barents Sea, Fram Strait, and waters off northern Svalbard), years (1999-2003) and seasons (spring or autumn). |
