Record #185638:

Les changements climatiques et la dynamique paraglaciaire dans le massif du Mont Blanc / Philip Deline.

Title: Les changements climatiques et la dynamique paraglaciaire dans le massif du Mont Blanc / Philip Deline.
Translated title: Climatic changes and paraglacial dynamics in the Mont Blanc massif.
Author(s): Deline, Philip.
Date: 2008.
Language: French.
In: Géographies : Bulletin de l'Association de Géographes Français. (2008.), Vol. 2 (2008)
Abstract: Argues that in high mountain area such as Mont Blanc massif, paraglacial period is time needed for side slope and longitudinal dynamics to adjust to major climate changes, as exemplified by formation of large polygenic debris cones at beginning of Holocene. Considers as secondary the renewed paraglacial response triggered by more recent post-Little Ice Age climate change, as illustrated by gullying of inner flanks of lateral moraines as result of post-Little Ice Age retreat. Argues that processes such as rock avalanches should not be considered paraglacial.
