| Abstract: | Describes translational slides on backslopes of large monoclinal ridges of north-western Highlands of Scotland. Slides range in size from compressed and heaved isolated blocks to chaotic blockstreams and are developed on slopes whose angles are offset by quartzite structural properties. Discusses how slides respond to paraglacial dynamics (rock mass response to glacial stress, runoff processes), contribute to postglacial erosion of major structural slopes, and express concept of differential paraglacial erosion. |
