| Abstract: | Based on fieldwork including ice coring carried out on Akademii Nauk ice cap, Severnaya Zemlya in 1986-87 and 1999-2001, presents measured temperature-depth profiles and steady-state profiles calculated using two sources of accumulation data. Reconstructs temperature at 10-m depth since AD 1200, using alternative accumulation histories and methods (Tikhonov's regularization method based on δ¹⁸O measurements and Monte Carlo method). Examines correlations between reconstructions and Northern Hemisphere and Arctic temperature records over periods 1850-1990 and 1600-1990, reporting highest correlation with reconstruction based on latest accumulation/dating data. |
