Abstract: Investigates possible influence of Moon-Earth tidal interaction on snow stability by examining ecliptical latitude of Moon for dates of over 1000 avalanches in Russia over period 1933-75. Concludes that tidal interaction is indeed factor in avalanching and suggests possibility of long-range avalanche prediction based on moon position relative to plane of ecliptic.
