Abstract: Evaluates avalanche regimes of poorly studied high mountain territories, revealing peculiarities of avalanche formation in warm subtropical regions of Asia. Examines oroclimatic profile of mountain regions in this belt, avalanche victim distributions by profession and country, and annual distribution of precipitation. Finds that disastrous avalanches occur in zone of rare snowfalls and unstable snow cover, explaining why over a considerable territory the dangerous avalanche season is longer than the duration of stable snow cover. Connects more than 80% of disastrous avalanches with meridional form of atmospheric circulation according to classification of Dzerdzeyevsky, with 25% of total occurring during ECM 13z period.
