Abstract: | Examines aufeis influence on radial growth of Pinus from Ulakhan-Taryn and Bulus, Central Yakutiya. Analyzes dataset from 190 samples, comparing tree-ring, average annual temperature and February precipitation chronologies over period 1901-1989. Reveals strong aufeis influence, especially near naled edge. In naled valley, optimal years for Pinus are those with cold and light-snow autumn-winter-spring seasons and relatively warm-dry summer (wet August and warm-dry September). This is quite different from optimal conditions in naled-free valleys. In Spasskaya Pad, for example, tree-ring growth is directly linked with warm-snow winters, warm-wet springs and cool-wet summers. |
