Record #185438:

The maximal (pre-LGM and LGM) glaciation of south-east Iranian mountains exemplified by the Kuh-i-Jupar massif in Zagros / M. Kuhle.

Title: The maximal (pre-LGM and LGM) glaciation of south-east Iranian mountains exemplified by the Kuh-i-Jupar massif in Zagros / M. Kuhle.
Author(s): Kuhle, M.
Date: 2007.
Language: Russian transliteration entered into original records using BGN/PCGN 1947 romanisation of Russian; Cyrillic text in MARC 880 field(s) reverse transliterated from this by automated process; BGN/PCGN 1947 text then upgraded to Library of Congress romanisation.
In: Materialy Gli︠a︡t︠s︡iologicheskikh Issledovaniĭ. (2007.), Vol. 103 (2007)
Abstract: Discusses former glaciation and maximum Pleistocene ice cover of semi-arid section of Iranian mountains using results of Quaternary-geological and geomorphological investigation of Kuh-i-Jupar massif. Describes topography, geomorphology and climate of 20 km long and 4135 m high Kui-i-Jupar crest. Identifies evidence of two Late Pleistocene (LGM and pre-LGM) glaciations and reconstructs their maximum extents from end moraines and ice-marginal ramps. Discusses reconstructed glacier types, course of LGM and pre-LGM snow lines and stages of deglaciation. Compares with findings published elsewhere suggesting generally higher LGM ELAs. Discusses palaeoclimatic relevance of reconstructed glaciation, with ELA depressions of around 1500 m, implying temperature depressions of at 10-16°C compared to today, depending on humidity.
