| Abstract: | Discusses numerical reconstruction of ice-flow dynamics around drill site at Kohnen station, Dronning Maud Land, Antarctica during last 170 kyr. Focusing on 600x400 km nested domain or regional model, describes model structure and performance and climatic forcing with temperature record derived from isotope data from Kohnen ice core, from which non-climatic, e.g., topographic, effects were excluded. Describes post-processing of experimental data using Lagrangian back-tracing method, and establishment of depth-age distribution in core and ice particle trajectories from their surface origins. Concludes from ice trajectories, velocities and deformations that flow was stable, with stratigraphy of upper 89% layer undisturbed. |
