Record #185276:

The collapse of the Bering Strait ice dam and the abrupt temperature rise in the beginning of the Holocene / Cathrine Sandal, Doron Nof.

Title: The collapse of the Bering Strait ice dam and the abrupt temperature rise in the beginning of the Holocene / Cathrine Sandal, Doron Nof.
Author(s): Sandal, Cathrine.
Nof, Doron.
Date: 2008.
In: Journal of Physical Oceanography. (2008.), Vol. 38(9) (2008)
Abstract: Discusses abrupt increase in oceanic and atmospheric temperature in Northern Hemisphere at beginning of Holocene. Proposes that abrupt opening of Bering Strait because of breakup of ice dam (caused by rising sea levels) caused increase in mean temperature of Northern Hemisphere. Applies analytical coupled ocean-atmosphere model to North Atlantic to attempt to quantify temperature change resulting from opening.
