| Abstract: | Investigates people's relationships to natural environment, or ecological ethics, in two related ethnic minorities (Evenki and Eveny), based on oral histories and experiences of people living "traditionally" on land, and also those who have settled permanently in villages and towns. Explains role of nature in lives of people and cultural rules of interaction with nature. Notes that indigenous moral laws have not protected land and nature from destruction common in Russia. Argues for need for state policies to protect ethnic minorities' use of natural resources. |
