| Abstract: | Briefly describes aims and methods of Antarctic Trace Gas and Aerosol Airborne Measurement Study (AGAMES), and reports preliminary results from flights over Dronning Maud Land during 2006-07 Antarctic season. Vertical variability of aerosol concentration is relatively small compared to mid-latitude observations, but vertical distribution is less homogenous than expected; and aerosol layers or vertical gradients in concentration were observed on several flights, particularly for accumulation mode particles, where strong enhancement was repeatedly observed in upper troposphere. |
