Abstract: Reports nitrogen and light increment experiments executed on landfast sea ice of Barrow, Alaska, to determine whether nitrogen or light exerts most control over rates of carbon production by ice algae and photoplankton under ice. Results indicate that light, rather than NO₃ or NH₄ concentration, is main limiting factor for rates of production.
