Record #184784:

Mesoscale eddies in the Labrador Sea and their contribution to convection and restratification / Jerôme Chanut, and 6 others.

Title: Mesoscale eddies in the Labrador Sea and their contribution to convection and restratification / Jerôme Chanut, and 6 others.
Author(s): Chanut, Jerôme.
Date: 2008.
In: Journal of Physical Oceanography. (2008.), Vol. 38(8) (2008)
Abstract: Investigates cycle of open deep convection in Labrador Sea, using realistic, high-resolution (4 km) regional model, embedded in coarser North Atlantic set-up. Configuration allows simultaneous generation and evolution of three different eddy types that are distinguished by source region, generation mechanism and dynamics. Finds that deep convective mixing is limited to areas where adequate preconditioning can occur, i.e. to small region in south-western quadrant of central basin.
