Abstract: | Evaluates impact of Special Diabetes Program for Indians (SDPI) funding on process and intermediate outcomes, using data from Diabetes Care and Outcomes Audit from 1994-2004. Finds haemoglobin Alc, total and LDL cholesterol, triglycerides and blood pressure significantly improved from pre-SDPI to SDPI period. Notes, however, that as number of people with diabetes increased, percentage of people receiving foot, eye and dental examinations decreased, as did percentage receiving nutrition, exercise and diabetes education. |
