Технологии поиска ледяных полей для организации дрейфующих станций в 2004-2005 гг.

Title: Технологии поиска ледяных полей для организации дрейфующих станций в 2004-2005 гг.
Title, transliterated: Tekhnologii poiska ledi︠a︡nykh poleĭ dli︠a︡ organizat︠s︡ii dreĭfui︠u︡shchikh stant︠s︡iĭ v 2004-2005 gg. / V.I. Bessonov, S.V. Frolov.
Translated title: Some technologies of looking for ice fields for drift science station organization in 2004-2005.
Author(s): Bessonov, V. I.
Frolov, S. V.
Date: 2007.
Language: Russian.
In: Problemy Arktiki i Antarktiki. (2007.), Vol. 75 (2007)
Abstract: Describes experience gained from use of satellite-derived information to search for reliable ice fields in which to establish drifting stations "Severnyy Polyus-33" and "Severnyy Polyus-34" ("North Pole-33" and "North Pole-34") in years 2004 and 2005. Describes searching and monitoring technologies and schemes based on data from Radarsat-1 and Envisat and observations from ships and helicopters. Reports difficulty in estimating ice cover characteristics during maximal melting stage in high latitudes, and requirement for ground truth measurements to aid interpretation of satellite information. These measurements can be carried out on North Pole drifting stations.
