Title, transliterated: Reakt︠s︡ii︠a︡ kontinentalʹnogo gornogo klimata na predpolagaemoe "globalʹnoe poteplenie" (dannye nabli︠u︡deniĭ na Ali︠a︡ske I i territorii I︠U︡kon) / S.A. Harris.
Translated title: Reaction of continental mountain climates to the postulated "global warming": evidence from Alaska and the Yukon Territory.
Author(s): Harris, S. A.
Date: 2007.
Language: Russian.
In: Kriosfera Zemli. (2007.), Vol. 11(3) (2007)
Abstract: Examines climatic data for Alaska and Yukon Territory, which fail to show warming trend predicted by CO₂ climate change models. Finds instead large area affected by sudden 2°C rise in temperature between 1975 and 1980 while core of continental mountain change appears to be buffered from warming seen in data from marginal mountain slopes and adjacent lowlands. Attributes this to combination of fog, cold air drainage and air mass inversions in closed mountain basins. Discusses implications for permafrost distribution and engineering construction.
