Record #184345:

Improving estimates of the Antarctic circumpolar current streamlines in Drake Passage / Yueng-Djern Lenn, Teresa K. Chereskin, Janet Sprintall.

Title: Improving estimates of the Antarctic circumpolar current streamlines in Drake Passage / Yueng-Djern Lenn, Teresa K. Chereskin, Janet Sprintall.
Author(s): Lenn, Yueng-Djern.
Chereskin, Teresa K.
Sprintall, Janet.
Date: 2008.
In: Journal of Physical Oceanography. (2008.), Vol. 38(5) (2008)
Abstract: Presents new estimate of mean surface Antarctic circumpolar current (ACC) in Drake Passage that combines sea surface height anomalies measured by satellite altimetry with recent dataset of repeat high-resolution acoustic Doppler current profiler observations. Results show narrower and stronger ACC fronts separated by quiescent zones of much weaker flow. Discusses in relation to meandering of ACC fronts.
