Record #184249:

Testate amoeba in a changing Arctic / Louis Beyens, Pieter Ledeganck, Ivan Nijs.

Title: Testate amoeba in a changing Arctic / Louis Beyens, Pieter Ledeganck, Ivan Nijs.
Author(s): Beyens, Louis.
Ledeganck, Pieter.
Nijs, Ivan.
Date: 2008.
In: Circumpolar Studies. (2008.), Vol. 4 (2008)
Abstract: Discusses relationship between vegetation type and soil-dwelling testate amoebae community, noting that hotspots for flowering plant diversity can also be regarded as hotspots for amoebae. Records increase in diversity of testate amoebae in experimentally heated soil plots, indicating that role of testate amoebae in food web and recycling processes could become more important in warmer Arctic. In special issue A passion for the Pole : ethological research in polar regions.
